Galactic Time and the Framework of Creation

The orbital period of the solar system around the center of the Milky Way galaxy, often termed a galactic year or cosmic year, is estimated to be approximately 225 to 250 million years. This immense duration serves as a fundamental benchmark in observational cosmology. When considering the light-travel time from distant galaxies and the observed physical processes within our own, the scale of this rotation presents a significant conceptual tension for a young-earth chronology, which traditionally posits a timeframe of roughly 6,000 to 10,000 years for the existence of the universe.
